2020 VP Appointments I Sargent & Lundy

January 24, 2020 - Sargent & Lundy is pleased to announce its 2020 executive appointments. The following individuals have been appointed as vice presidents.

Dawn Buchel is a Chicago-based vice president and project director for Sargent & Lundy’s electric grid infrastructure business. Buchel’s experience in the energy industry includes serving domestic and international power generation, substation, transmission, renewable and security projects. She is responsible for directing and coordinating numerous projects for Midwest and East Coast clients. Buchel has a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering (BSCE) and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE).

Kevin Lauzze is a vice president and project director for Sargent & Lundy’s energy, environmental and industrial businesses. He currently manages a large solution mining project and multiple carbon capture projects. Lauzze has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in chemical engineering and is a licensed PE. He is based in Chicago.

Tom Musto is a Chicago-based vice president and project director for Sargent & Lundy’s nuclear business. He is responsible for supporting the firm’s work for Southern Nuclear Company’s Vogtle Units 3 and 4 in a seconded role providing project management and vendor oversight for Southern Nuclear’s director of engineering. He is the chair for two of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering’s (ASME) code committees. Musto earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering (BSME) and is a licensed PE.

Michael Sawchuk is a vice president and project director for Sargent & Lundy’s electric grid infrastructure business. He supports projects that include field services. Based in Glendale, Arizona, Sawchuk is responsible for the firm’s local electric grid infrastructure activities with a concentration on projects in the Southwestern U.S. He also contributes to projects that involve construction resources across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. He has a BSCE, served in the U.S. Army and is a licensed PE.

Eric Soderlund is a Chicago-based vice president and project director for Sargent & Lundy’s consulting business. Soderlund leads conceptual studies, bid evaluations, due diligence, construction monitoring, operations monitoring and other analyses for domestic and international wind, solar, hydro, nuclear and biomass projects. He currently directs over 30 consulting projects. He has also managed over 40 wind project partial repower projects in the last three years, primarily in support of financiers. Soderlund holds a BSCE, a Master of Science in civil engineering (MSCE) and an MBA. He is a licensed PE.

Matthew Tapp is a Chicago-based vice president and project director for Sargent & Lundy’s construction support business. He is responsible for strategic planning, business development and overall leadership of Sargent & Lundy’s construction management and commissioning services. He has over 30 years of industry experience and has executed several projects related to power, oil and gas, mining, renewables and other heavy industrial markets. Additionally, Tapp has successfully led many large engineering procurement construction (EPC) projects.

Mike White is a vice president and project director for Sargent & Lundy’s government services. Based in Richland, Washington, he manages the engineering and design staff in the firm’s local office, as well as several Hanford Site facility upgrade and waste retrieval projects. He has extensive experience in the design, fabrication and installation of high-level nuclear waste treatment, storage and disposal equipment. He has also earned two U.S. patents for innovative and commercially successful machine designs. White holds a BSME.
