Sargent & Lundy Creating Jobs in Bruce County as Part of its Ongoing Commitment to Bruce Power

Firm opens new office in Municipality of Kincardine, Ontario, Canada

March 30, 2017 - Sargent & Lundy is establishing a new office in Kincardine, which it will share with sub-contractor CB&I, as a result of a new long-term agreement with Bruce Power.

The office will employ local professionals dedicated exclusively to Bruce Power projects, while also offering space to others from across Canada and the U.S.

Delfo Bianchini, Sargent & Lundy’s Executive Vice President & Director of Nuclear Power, said the company has a long history of supporting Bruce Power’s operations, dating back to 2001, when Bruce Power assumed control of the site.

“This new project award is a testimony to our long-term commitment to providing quality, service and value to Bruce Power,” Bianchini said. “Not only are we looking forward to expanding our partnership and drawing on our extensive expertise to continue helping Bruce Power achieve its goals, we’re also thrilled to be joining Bruce County and their Kincardine community.”

The combined economic development efforts of the region and Bruce Power are starting to pay off as suppliers are beginning to expand with local operations. The initiative includes Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, and recognizes that the entire region, as well as the province, will benefit from Bruce Power’s Life-Extension Program through local investments and job opportunities.

“We have a long-term view of economic development in our community and the province,” said Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power’s President and CEO. “Bringing jobs back, supporting community economic development and enabling innovation where provincial companies can expand and export, is an important part of our social responsibility. We are pleased to see Sargent & Lundy’s commitment to local economic growth in the region.”

Mitch Twolan, Bruce County Warden, welcomed Sargent & Lundy to the region and congratulated it on its success.

“This is an important step in the continued investment in our communities, and we look forward to working with Sargent & Lundy as it makes Bruce County its home.”

About the Economic Development and Innovation Initiative
In 2016, Bruce Power and the County of Bruce launched a regional economic development initiative to facilitate the expansion of Bruce Power Suppliers into the region. This initiative was in response to Bruce Power’s multi-billion dollar, multi-year Life Extension Program.
