Entergy Breaks Ground on Orange County Advanced Power Station

Sargent & Lundy serves as engineer of record for the combined-cycle power plant

April 28, 2023 – Sargent & Lundy representatives joined Gov. Greg Abbott and nearly 200 elected officials and local leaders on April 24 at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Orange County Advanced Power Station. OCAPS is a large-scale, combined-cycle power facility that will provide reliable, affordable, and sustainable power across Southeast Texas. Sargent & Lundy serves as engineer of record for the project.

The facility, owned by Entergy Texas, will replace legacy gas generation with modern and efficient energy generation capable of producing 1,215 megawatts of electricity per year – enough to power 27 counties and 230,000 homes in the region. The project is expected to complete construction by 2026.

“Facilities like the Orange County Advanced Power Station will ensure that reliable power is available in Southeast Texas for generations to come,” said Gov. Abbott. “The new facility will be a Texas-sized investment in the future of Southeast Texas.”
