IEEE Power & Energy Society Grants Outstanding Engineer Award to John Szabados

Award recognizes global and local contributions to the power engineering profession


October 27, 2020 – The Power & Energy Society (PES) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has named Sargent & Lundy’s John Szabados the recipient of its 2020 Outstanding Engineer Award for the North Jersey PES Chapter. Szabados is a senior manager for Sargent & Lundy’s electric grid infrastructure services. The award recognizes his notable leadership and contributions in the engineering design Sargent & Lundy John Szabados IEEE PES Awardand project management of electric power systems.

IEEE’s Power & Energy Society is a worldwide, non-profit association of nearly 39,000 individuals engaged in the electric power and energy industry. Criteria for the award include significant leadership, technical, professional, societal, and educational contributions not only to the global power engineering profession, but also the local community representing the profession.

Mr. Szabados joined Sargent & Lundy in 2018 and has over 28 years of multi-discipline engineering expertise to his projects in the renewable, generation, and transmission and distribution space. He is a practicing Professional Engineer in 11 states and is currently managing the owner’s engineering contract of one of the largest battery energy storage projects in the world. He prides himself in teaching young engineers at Sargent & Lundy about all facets of the power industry.
