May 18, 2022 – The Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) is hosting its 2022 Digital I&C Workshop May 17-18 in Atlanta. Sargent & Lundy’s Dave Hooten co-delivered a presentation highlighting a U.S. nuclear power plant’s digital modernization implementation plan (MIP) results on May 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. EDT.
INPO’s annual workshop provides utilities a forum to share information on digital upgrades. The subjects covered will range from innovative projects to industry activities by organizations such as the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Typical presenters include utility personnel, NEI, EPRI, NRC, and select vendors.
Hooten, along with his co-presenter from the nuclear power plant, discussed Sargent & Lundy’s work creating a detailed digital modernization implementation plan that built upon the high-level digital modernization strategy previously developed.
In their presentation, Hooten and his co-presenter:
- Identified the digital MIP’s value to the design process and the digital equipment life cycle management.
- Highlighted the digital MIP’s results, including the requirements and recommendations it produced.
- Discussed how the nuclear power plant is applying the digital MIP to its digital modernization program.
Attendees at this workshop are expected to include practitioners, supervisors, and managers involved in digital system upgrades, modifications, and lifecycle management.
INPO is a professional organization whose mission is to promote the highest levels of safety and reliability in the operation of commercial nuclear power plants.
