Sargent & Lundy to Host Nuclear Power Plant Committee Meeting

Industry leaders will discuss advanced reactor I&C licensing


August 26, 2022 – Sargent & Lundy is hosting the International Society of Automation (ISA) 67 Nuclear Power Plant Committee for a meeting at the firm’s Chicago headquarters August 30- 31. The ISA is a nonprofit association for engineers, technicians, and managers engaged in industrial automation. It is comprised of several standards committees, including the ISA67 committee, which focuses on nuclear power plant standards and develops standards for instrumentation and controls (I&C) to maintain, clarify, update, and provide application guidance on existing standards.

On Tuesday, August 30, ISA67 Vice Chair Ted Quinn of Paragon Energy Solutions will chair the session, “Advanced Reactor I&C Licensing,” from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. CDT. Quinn will be joined by industry professionals from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Idaho National Laboratory (INL), and TerraPower.

The session will include three presentations:

  • Licensing I&C for Small Modular Reactors
  • Instrumentation Design for Small Modular Reactors
  • Human Factor Engineering Design
