Register Now for Virtual Transmission Line and Substation Engineering Courses

Participants are eligible for 16 to 32 professional development hours

April 19, 2021 – Sargent & Lundy’s popular power transmission courses are once again available to our utility clients for registration. Conducted by senior engineers experienced in infrastructure design, the Overhead Transmission Line Engineering Design and Substation Engineering Design courses are held annually and attended by managers, engineers, and designers from electric power companies around the world.

All courses are offered virtually via Microsoft Teams on designated dates or in person at the client’s site upon request. Upon completion, participants may earn from 16 to 32 professional development hours.

Two-day and four-day presentations are offered and differ based on coverage detail, pace, and interaction levels. The four-day courses focus on current industry practices and design techniques. They are best suited for new engineers or managers needing in-depth coverage of substations or transmission. Interactive sessions and in-class exercises support the material and create more opportunity for discussion. The two-day courses are best suited to enhance the learning of engineers who have some substation and/or transmission design experience. These courses are less in-depth and delivered at a faster pace with limited interactive sessions and fewer exercises.

An additional two-day course – Underground Transmission Line Engineering Design – is also available to clients virtually or at their sites upon request. Specific tasks and activities pertaining to line design will be presented, as well as the fundamentals of system needs, design requirements, route selection, cable selection, detailed design, and installation.
