Recent presentation focuses on the benefits of nuclear power and the technology behind next-generation reactors


Feb. 7, 2024 – At the recent POWERGEN International conference, Sargent & Lundy’s Kevin Huberty provided an overview of the benefits of nuclear power along with insights into the next generation of small modular reactors, advanced reactors, and microreactors that are expected to revolutionize the industry. Huberty’s presentation was featured in an article, “POWERGEN 2024: An Overview of Nuclear, SMR Technology,” published by Turbomachinery International Magazine on January 26.

Huberty was among Sargent & Lundy’s team of leading industry authorities delivering presentations and serving on panels at this year’s POWERGEN exhibition and summit in New Orleans.

The theme for the POWERGEN conference was Destination 2050 and focused on the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. Along with Huberty, the conference featured presentations from Kevin Lauzze, Julianna Crumlish, Matthew Heermann, and Marc Prasse. Danielle Flagg served as a conference committee chairperson and led the development of the carbon capture and emissions control track.
