Sargent & Lundy to Sponsor EUCI 2024 Underground Transmission Conference

Firm welcomes in-person and virtual attendees to share insights on reliable and resilient power infrastructure


January 19, 2024 – Sargent & Lundy is hosting the Electric Utilities Consultants, Inc. Underground Transmission conference at its Chicago headquarters Jan. 24-25. During the conference, the firm’s Ethan Evans and Mark Rankin will present on key factors that affect the ratings for underground transmission lines.

Utility professionals and engineers from across the U.S. will discuss and share best practices for underground transmission applications and share their thoughts and experiences on different facets of underground transmission projects.

Tom Foley, senior vice president and director of Sargent & Lundy’s electric grid infrastructure services, will kick off the event on Jan. 24 with a welcome speech. Later in the day, Evans and Rankin will present, “Objects and Conditions that Impact the Ratings for Underground Transmission Lines,” from 2:15-3:00 p.m. CST. This presentation will cover:

  • Mark Rankin | Sargent & LundyBasic ampacity method.
  • Sheath bonding.
  • Deep installations.
  • External heat sources.

Speakers from organizations including PEPCO, National Grid, and Consolidated Edison will present technical and practical topics on innovative strategies, maintenance, practices, and highlights for underground transmission line projects. Attendees will also participate in a question-and-answer panel discussion about the future of underground transmission applications.
