March 18, 2024 – Sargent & Lundy sponsored Engineering Fest 2024, a hands-on celebration of engineering hosted by the Chicago Architecture Center at Willis Tower in Chicago. The event provided a unique opportunity for youth and their families to explore how engineering and architecture work together to bring cities to life.

In addition to sponsoring the event, Sargent & Lundy hosted an energy-themed booth, where the firm’s seasoned professionals shared their expertise to engage young minds and grow their understanding of electricity. The booth included an activity that shows how electricity works, where it comes from, and ways to promote energy efficiency.

This year's festival theme, "Building Tall," aligns with the addition of Willis Tower as a partner and venue. Participants explored Chicago's unique and iconic architecture and learned about the city's structures and the intricate systems that support them. Additionally, they designed and tested engineering solutions through interactive stations and activities:

• Participants became junior engineers and architects, strategically designing skyscrapers, planning transportation, and creating public spaces alongside industry professionals.
• Families toured Willis Tower and learned about the transportation systems that help people move around the city.
• Participants also created their own ‘L’ train, exploring the engineering behind these elevated structures and learning about the engineering required to keep them safe.
