Article: How to Optimize Replication in Power Plant Design & Construction

Sargent & Lundy authors article in POWER magazine discussing how it maximized design replication for two parallel EPC projects

December 13, 2019 – Sargent & Lundy and the firm’s partners at Gemma Power Systems contributed an article to the December issue of POWER magazine highlighting value engineering strategies used to optimize project planning and engineering for the concurrent design and construction of two power plants.

The two projects were successfully completed by a team of world-class engineering and construction project stakeholders—Gemma Power Systems as the EPC contractor and Sargent & Lundy as the engineer of record for full balance-of-plant (BOP) design—using replication as the driving force.

The team optimized the engineering and construction schedule to reduce costs and mitigate project risks. The cohesive and collaborative effort streamlined both projects, enabling the work to be completed at the two different sites with minimal risk.
