Selected as Nuclear Power Plant Engineer of Choice

Part of team for Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant Five-Year Integrated Service Supplier Contract

September 4, 2015 - Sargent & Lundy has been selected by Fluor as the Diablo Canyon Power Plant Engineer of Choice (EOC) as a part of the five-year integrated service supplier contract that Fluor was awarded earlier this year from Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). The two unit power plant in San Luis Obispo County California produces approximately 2,300 megawatts of power.

Since the selection in late 2014, Sargent & Lundy has been adding engineering, design, and project controls staff to the Diablo Canyon site team and in the firm's Chicago, Phoenix, and Wilmington offices to support the growing EOC workload. Near-term projects include emergent security modifications, NFPA 805 work, and the open-phase event modification, as well as many other modifications and outage engineering support.

In June, executives from PG&E, Fluor, Sargent & Lundy and additional integrated services supplier team members met to discuss performance to date. The review showed that the team has met PG&E’s requirements in all areas.

"We're pleased to partner with Fluor and the PG&E Diablo Canyon staff," said Delfo Bianchini, Sargent & Lundy Executive VP and Director of Nuclear Power. "The entire Sargent & Lundy team is looking forward to contributing to the station's initiatives to sustain safe, reliable, and economical operation."
