Sargent & Lundy Contributes Solar Industry Structural Engineering Insight in STRUCTURE Magazine

Alexander Coologeorgen co-authors article about solar PV structures and codes

February 13, 2023 – Alexander Coologeorgen, a principal consultant at Sargent & Lundy and member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, co-authored and provided thought leadership to, “What’s New Under the Sun?”, an article in STRUCTURE Magazine’s February issue. It highlights the design challenges and recommended practices experienced in the rapidly growing solar photovoltaic industry over the last decade, particularly as they relate to structural specifications and codes.

The Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE recently formed the Solar PV Structures Committee to support these challenges by producing a solar PV structures manual of practice that shares lessons learned, as well as design guides and standards. The manual will provide design guidance to the solar PV industry and allow industry stakeholders to design and develop consistent and reliable structures.
