Groundbreaking Ceremony for Ten West Link Receives National Focus

Sargent & Lundy contributing independent engineering services toward interstate electric grid project


March 27, 2023 – Sargent & Lundy attended a groundbreaking ceremony promoting the construction of a 125-mile high-voltage transmission line project between Southern California and central Arizona on January 19. Vice President Kamala Harris, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi, Governor of Arizona Katie Hobbs, members of the California Independent System Operator, along with many other dignitaries and project partners were in attendance near Tonopah, Arizona – the eastern terminus of the project’s planned electric grid.

Ten West Link Groundbreaking Ceremony | Sargent & LundyTen West Link is a planned energy infrastructure featuring a 500-kilovolt transmission line connecting electrical substations near Tonopah, Arizona, and Blythe, California. The project, owned and developed by Lotus Infrastructure Partners, will utilize the region’s potential for large-scale renewable energy and energy storage development and help the two states reach their renewable energy standards and carbon reduction goals. Construction began in late 2022, and the project is expected to be operational in 2024.

Sargent & Lundy has been contracted to provide independent engineering services to support this important infrastructure project.
